History of Baltic Amber:
Baltic Amber is an organic substance, formed over 45 million years ago, a “Fossil Resin” produced by pine trees grown in Northern Europe – nearby regions of the Baltic Sea. Baltic Amber has been used for centuries for its healing properties. Amber contains succinic acid. When amber warms against your body, succinic acid will be absorbed through your skin helping with pain relief. Interest in amber’s healing properties dates back to the Paleolithic Age, from everything from protective powers to joint pain to more modern-day ailments, like arthritis and teething.
Can My Baby Chew on the Necklace?
No. These necklaces are not to be chewed on. Choose the appropriate-sized necklace for your baby so the baby cannot get the necklace into his/her mouth.
How Do I Select the Right Size?
The Baltic amber necklaces come in two sizes: small (11-11.5 inches) and medium (12-12.5 inches). It should not be so loose that the child can lift it up into his/her mouth, but it should not be so tight that it will be uncomfortable.
You should try the necklace on the baby to gauge the proper fit or measure using a piece of yarn.
Can My Baby Wear the Necklace to bed?
To get the most therapeutic value from the necklace, the baby should wear it as much as possible during the day. It is not recommended that the baby wear it to bed, or while unsupervised.
What Are the Safety Features of this Necklace?
With each amber necklace, each bead is individually knotted on the string. This ensures that if the baby were to break the necklace, they would only be able to free one bead.
The plastic clasp at the back is free from all metals and allergens and is also held together by knots. This ensures if there were enough pressure placed on the necklace, the clasp would break open.
How Do You Care for the Amber Necklace?
You will want to keep the amber from lotions, polishes, waxes, and other residues that might coat the surface of the stones creating a barrier from the healing succinic acid.
Amber can be worn in the bath but not in the pool or hot tubs where chemicals are harmful to the amber. If the necklace needs to be washed, use warm water only, no soap.
